Is it a sin to be older than twenty (20) in Hollywood!!!?
I have had many conversations and attended many forums that champions Ageism in Hollywood but thus far nothing has happened. We need to make things happen!!! I for one is sick and tired of being sick and tired of all the roles going to either already famous, famous actors or new borns or comedians, or American Idol contestants or Reality TV shows participatns!!! Let's change the system!! Show Hollywood, we are alive and Kicking!!! Banning together and making our voices heard can be a start to saying, "we are not going to take this lying down!"" What do you think? Is this my imagination or what? If I am wrong I stand corrected, share with me to convince me and others, otherwise. Help!!!

Hi Fed Up,
I am a casting director who comes from an actor's background, so I feel your pain and can empathize. Unfortunately the industry is geared toward a younger audience (18-35) so that's where studios and indie filmmakers are trying to market their product. While there are good, strong roles for the 40+ and 50+ out there, it does get more intense as there are more people vying for the handful of roles available. My only suggestion is to always be on top of your craft and to send out postcards to the CDs you've read for so that you are first in their minds for upcoming roles. Try not to let the industry frustrate you. It's inevitable that the tables will turn sometimes against you but if you love the craft as much as I think you do, you will find ways to keep plugging away. See you in the movies.
